Prolong Operation Time of VRLA Batteries by Using High Performance Valve Technology”

VRLA batteries are a highly economical, reliable, and safe energy storage solution used in various applications, including automotive/starter, motive power, and standby applications.
Although all VRLA batteries are based on lead-acid technology, their design must be tailored to meet the specific requirements of different applications.
A critical component of every VRLA battery is the safety valve, which serves two essential functions: preventing ambient air from entering the cells and regulating internal pressure.
However, the design, stability, and performance characteristics of these valves must be adapted to suit varying operational conditions. In other words, a single valve design cannot meet the needs of all applications.
For over 20 years, Abertax has been developing and manufacturing safety valves, gaining extensive experience across diverse applications, during the last 2 decades.

This paper presents the latest valve designs, discusses key findings from various tests and field studies, and provides guidance on selecting the optimal valve for each specific application.
