From Legacy to New Markets – The Need for Lead Batteries in ESS and Stationary Applications

Lead batteries have proven to be a reliable, safe and effective solution for many different stationary applications. This presentation will start with a look at important stationary applications like UPS, telecom, back-up for critical systems, and microgrids and how lead batteries offer a superior technology. Discussion of the market and challenges in data centers and select ESS segments will follow, digging into the needs of these applications and how lead batteries are changing and need to change further to provide capable systems. Research and development in stationary applications will be summarized, including new work from the CBI technical program. The discussion will also focus on innovative changes to current applications and how the lead battery industry could benefit.
