Emerging Trends and Future Prospects for Thin Tubular/Advance/Smart Lead-Acid Technology

With the advancement of technologies, customer expectations for their appliances have also increased. To cater to these requirements, energy storage devices must meet some critical performance parameters to remain relevant and cost competitive, such as: Safety, Maintenance Free, Enhanced Durability and Longevity, Cost-Effectiveness, and Circular Economy. Due to their safety, low cost, and Sustainability features, lead-acid batteries have always been a preferred choice in the HomeUPS and IndustrialUPS segments. However, with the inception of AI, improved power quality, and Renewable energy integration, it becomes imperative to improve the cycle life, Partial-state-of-Charge operation, deep discharge operation, High-rate operation, and to lower the weight of lead-acid batteries. To tackle this issue, Lead-acid battery technology continues to evolve, with several emerging trends shaping its future:
• Advanced Lead-Carbon Batteries: For enhanced performance and longer lifespan, carbon is added to the negative plates.
• AGM and Gel Technologies: Are becoming more popular due to their faster charging times, increased durability, and efficient energy storage.
• Smart Batteries: Integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and algorithm-based management system with lead-acid batteries allows for better monitoring and management, enhancing efficiency and reliability.
To achieve these advances, there is a need for industry leaders and pioneers in the lead-acid battery industry to focus more on:
• Research and Development Initiatives for advancing lead-acid battery technology. Through government agencies, research institutions, and industry leaders’ collaborations.
• Maintaining market leadership in sustainability, cost effectiveness and scale.
We are committed to excellence through innovation to keep our leadership position in the HomeUPS segment. In this innovation journey, we have already created a benchmark by making the thinnest tubular technology a success in the Home-UPS market and achieving the highest lead efficiency. This presentation will showcase our continuous efforts and endeavours in R&D to cater to this ever-changing market.
